    Good question!

    I think “interaction” is a prerequisite to “engagement,” because anyone can interact. For example, interacting with the cashier at the store or holding the door open for someone. However, engagement is when people share opinions, feedback or information virtually or in-person. As a social media manager, I deploy information with the objective of stimulating engagement. I want fans and followers to reach out and comment or reply to tweets, so that I can comment in-return. Simply, RTing or “Liking” a post is interaction.
