1. A nudge for inactive Brand Page admins – Haven’t posted on your Page in awhile? Facebook plans to give you a friendly nudge in an effort to get you reengaged with your fans and help you understand the benefits of leveraging Brand Pages. There are quite a few, more like thousands actually, of inactive or under-used Brand Pages on Facebook. This is creating a lot of clutter in search results. For example, I ran a Pages search for “Virgin America” and received a number of Virgin America Pages in my search results. Imagine the drawbacks for small businesses when its company name doesn’t resonate as strongly and must compete with other similar and identical Pages in search results.

2. American Red Cross mobile app – So important to have on our phone whether you have children or not! The American Red Cross’ mobile app has much to offer, such as step-by-step instructions for everyday first aid scenarios, integration with 911 so you can call EMS directly from the app, safety tips and more. Available for iPhone and Android.

3. Radio activated wristbands create real-time engagement with Coldplay – This isn’t social media in particular, but this effort made an impact in the social media space because it was pretty great and innovative. Fans at a Coldplay concert were given Xylobands wristbands so they could all become interactive concert participants. All wristbands were branded with #coldplayfilm and were activated using a radio signal. I think this is a fun and creative way to engage with fans and the online community. Coldplay fans, whether at the concert or not (thanks to #coldplayfilm), felt a part of the concert and part of the art being made.
