Plan a Trip & Travel Easy With These Mobile Apps
Can you believe it’s almost June? This means school will be out for summer break before we know it, and summer vacation planning is underway. I am way excited! I love summer. But, one thing I’m not a fan of are vacation planning and travel woes.
Nevertheless, consider checking out these mobile apps to turn those woes into yahooos!
Manage Your Budget
Mint – Manage your travel budget on-the-go before and during your summer adventures. The free Mint apps automatically categorize your spending. For example, “Grocery,” “Business Services,” “Vacation” etc.
Pageonce – A one-stop-shop mobile app. Track your transactions, pay your bills and set-up alerts so you don’t forget to make a payment.
Plan Your Summer Travel
Kayak – This is just an incredible site to begin with and thankfully we can book hotels, airfare, rentals and set price alerts with its mobile app.
TripAdvisor – This site is right up there with Kayak. It offers a variety of mobile apps to choose from: (1) Standard TripAdvisor. (2) City Guides. (3) SeatGuru.
TripIt – Simply forward your travel confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com and the mobile app will organize your travel booking details in one easy to use dashboard on your phone.
Don’t Miss Your Flight
Most airlines offer a mobile app so you can keep tabs on your flight status and even check-in.
- United Airlines, Southwest, JetBlue, Delta, Alaska Airlines, KLM, Virgin Atlantic and so many others.
Navigate Around Traffic
Beat the Traffic – Since 2001, this company has been making our daily commutes less frustrating. Get live traffic reports on your phone and even pick-up some tips along the way, from its helpful blog posts.
Plan a Hike or Fun Run
MapMyHIKE – Find a route and log all your hikes into a training log. Whatever hike you’re enjoying are easily shared on Facebook and Twitter.
RunKeeper – Map your routes, know the elevation and track your performance. Don’t forget to post your runs/jogs to Facebook and Twitter.
MapMyRun – Very similar to RunKeeper. In fact, it’s developed from the same company as MapMyHike mentioned above.
What are you looking forward to this summer? What are some mobile apps you’re currently using for travel? Please share in the comments below.

Thanks so much
This is a super useful list. Thanks, Allison!
I am so glad you found this helpful, Aida!
Thanks for the suggestions! Can’t wait to check out Beat the Traffic.
I love hearing about new, fun apps! Great insight to make travel more enjoyable!
I haven’t used trip it, but a company I interviewed for uses it as the main source of the c-level employees travel so it must be good. I am obsessed with kayak. It really helped us coordinate our trip to Namibia.
Oooh… loved reading this list … and loved that I actually do use some of these apps… ha ha… I am not as “technically challenged” as I thought!!!
